who sings One day of your life, that's all I ask for???
I was told that Alex Keenan (not sure of the spelling) sung that song but I can't find the CD or the singer listed anywhere...I believe it was a hit in 1968. The lyric's go like this...

Just give me one day of your life...that's all I ask for...just one day of your life girl

Thanks alot...

Yeah I remember it. 'If I can't have you forever, if I can't have things my way, I'll be content with just one day'. Is that the one? It's simply called 'One Day Of Your Life' and it looks like Alex Keenan had a hit with it in some States (Alex was very big in Hawaii apparently!), and there was another version by Society of Seven (who they?) but probably the best known version was by none other than Andy Williams. Andy's version charted #77 on Billboard in 1970. Not a bad tune - incidentally it was written by Neil Sedaka.

Yes, I've called the local radio station and that's all the info they can give me...but I can't find the song anywhere. Do you think I'm spelling the last name correct? That is such a great song...I'm surprised no one else has done a re-make...I'll check out SOS but I still love the original. If you hear of anyone singing that song...please let me know! Thank you kindly for taking the time to reply...Mahalo plenty, Jai

It must be the right spelling Jai because there?s about half a dozen mentions of the disc on the web. There?s a site listing records released on the Colgems label, and gives full details of the 45:

5008 (02/70) ALEX KEENAN---"One Day of Your Life"/"The Power of Your Mind"

5008 is the Colgems catalog number and it was released in Feb 1970. Matter of fact, there?s somebody selling a copy for $5. Might be worth investigating. Here's the address...

http://www.wegotrecords.com/records/45-7.html

Hope you can find yourself a copy of it Jai. Yeah Andy Williams' version is OK. I think he was trying to move away from 'Moon River' and all his crooning and do something a bit different. Andy's version came out a good six months after Alex's - so maybe he heard the record and thought it sounded like a hit. The Society of Seven version came out around the same time as Andy's and I think it was only an album cut. Are SOS from Hawaii too? Far as I know they are the only versions - I guess Sedaka recorded it too, but probably just as a demo.

hi Pete...who sings One day of your life, that's all I ask for???
Lived here in Hawaii all my life and went to see the SOS in Waikiki back in the 70's once and that was it. The show was great and I believe they are still playing there. But back then, Cecilio and Kapono, Kalapana and Country Comfort were the ones kicking out local hits. I will definately check out the website you sent me for Alex Keenan.

By the way, I finally found Akiko Kobayashi's cd...City of Angels and ordered it from Japancd.com. I fell in love with that song as I did with One day of your life!

Thanks again for all your help!!! jai

Thanks for the info about "One Day Of Your Life"...
I was searching for info about this song, written by Neil Sedaka & Howard Greenfield. Always thought Andy Williams' version was the original!

I have the old 45 ONE DAY OF YOUR LIFE by Alex Keenan. The company name on the record is COLGEMs (or Screen Gems-Columbia Music, Inc BMI) arranged and produced by Tony Osborne. The number on the record is 66-5008/XZKS-4047.
Apparently this singer was never a superstar as there is little written about him.
But I must tell you, it is an incrediable song, done so well by Mr. Keenan. I will soon be transferring my 45s to digital. I wil be sure to put this song at the front of the line.
Wishing you well,
Mark

Alex was a session musician for the beatles and a lot of other big acts of the 60s.

hi mark i was just reading your comments that you left and was very gladdened that some people still rember me. yes i am alex keenan that recorded one day of your life in 1970 and would just like to say thankyou for your comments. i was all set to go to hawaii to promote the record but screen gems advised me to wait until the second record came out, another sedaka song called Your Hearts's not in your Love but it didn't do as well as One Day but i have a sneaky feeling they knew Andy Williams was interested in recording it and with him being a star ? one wrong decision on my part i fear.
